Gregory Crewdson

The photographs of the park that i took for this task reminded me of the photographer Gregory Crewdson. He models and staged environments to create a surreal narrative in his photos.

In his night scenes, Crewsdon uses light from different angles to illuminate different aspects of the picture. creating atmosphere in his images. this is similar to the effect that i was trying to achieve with my photos in the park.

I like Crewdsons photos because of the mysterious narrative he creates in them. His scenes are in American suburbs and look as if they could be still from movies like American Beauty. Some of his images are almost disturbing and leave the viewer confused and intrigued by what is happening in the photo.
